In The Kitchen
By Josie Johnson-Rogers
“Good morning,” says Candy
“G-o-o-d morning,” replies June lovingly
“Where is our brother, Bee-Bop?” ask Candy
“I don’t know. The last time I saw him he was in the kitchen.” replies June
Bee-Bop got up a little earlier, than usual. He wanted to take his favorite carrot cake to the laughing session. The Laughing session is what he called the Saturday morning meetings he had with his sister, Candy. They loved getting together, to talk, and laugh, about what happened during their school week.
Bee-Bop walks toward the cupboard where the cake is kept, and notices the broom closet door was open.
“Mom really didn’t like any doors left open,” thought Bee-Bop
“I wonder, who keeps leaving this broom closet door open, lately.”
“Bee-Bop walks over to close the closet door, and sees a beautiful blue light going around, and around in the back of the closet.
“Mom or Dad must have put this blue light in last night, after everybody went to bed.”Says Bee-Bop
Bee-Bop steps into the closet to take a closer look, and immediately hears the words, “Beam Him Up”
Like magic he finds himself in a gigantic room filled with big boards with a lot of gadgets on them. The gadgets were lit up like downtown NY, during the Christmas season. Sitting at the big board in the center of the room was a form, which had a bald head, and looked to be, about 8 feet tall.
He could see, that she was female, but not in a human way. The female form turned around to face him, and said “Welcome aboard, Bee-Bop. My name is Nebbia. I will be your guide for, as long, as you are on this ship.”
“So I was right!” says Bee-Bop excitedly
“This is a space ship; I knew there was one in the sky close by me, out there, somewhere! I would have never in my wildest dreams, believed there was a beamer
upper, in our broom closet, “in the kitchen,”
“My very own kitchen!” Bee-Bop says excitedly in one breath
“Yes, you were right,” replies Nebbia. “You are very much in tuned to this ship, and its life forms, that are on board.”
“Bee-Bop didn’t really understand what Nebbia meant by the statement, that he knew about the ship, and its life forms that were on board.
“I was born on earth”, says Bee-Bop “I do believe in E. T. s, though”
The female form stood up, and Bee-Bop was amazed at how tall she was.
“She moves so gracefully,” thought Bee-Bop
She was very dark, with smoother than smooth skin. Nebbia had small hands, and fingers, and feet. Her eyes were rounder than round, and light brown in color. Nebbia’s bald head looked like somebody molded it with love and skill. Her nose and mouth were small, very small. She was beautiful!
Bee-Bop was wondering how such small hands could work all those gadgets, so fast.
The tall lady said, “I am using my mind, not my hands, to navigate this ship.”
“Oh!” says Bee-Bop surprised “You can read minds too, I see”
“Yes, I can, and so, can you” says Nebbia “When you believe, that the we, are one.”
Before He could question her further Nebbia asks Bee-Bop “Bee-Bop are you hungry, or thirsty?”
Bee-Bop was wondering how he was going to talk to someone so tall without standing up, on a chair, or something.
Nebbia once again must have read his mind, because suddenly there was a bubble floating right next to him.
He looked inside the bubble, and there was Nebbia smiling back at him. Nebbia asked Bee-Bop to walk next to her bubble, so she could see his face while they talked. He was so excited he could hardly contain himself.
“I am actually on a spaceship, talking to a real live E.T.,” says Bee-Bop out loud to himself
Bee-Bop followed the bubble to a door that opened, as though it was waiting on them, to arrive.
There in the center of the room was a large table, filled with earth foods, and his favorite, “carrot cake.” There was a frosted pitcher full of lemonade, too.
He sat down, and ate, until his hearts content. Bee-Bop drank lemonade until he was completely satisfied.
No matter, how much lemonade he drank, the pitcher was always full. Bee-Bop couldn’t understand how, this was possible. But he was glad that it was!
After he finished eating, Bee-Bop thanked Nebbia for the “mm, mm” good food.
Without a moments delay, the bubble was once again moving. Nebbia took Bee-Bop down the hall to a door which opened automatically.
In the room to his surprise were Fairies, and Angels, and Little People. He is not talking about short people, either. The little people were the size of June’s dolls. Bee-Bop recognized the life forms from the fairytale books his Mom bought him when he was learning to read. No way, did Bee-Bop think they were real, though. The Fairies, Angels, and the little People were laughing and talking about the people of earth.
They said, we were coming to a place now of healing, and revealing. Bee-Bop wasn’t sure what they meant by this healing, and revealing statement, but they were.
One of the angels came over to him, and looked him straight in the eye. She asked him “Have you ever wondered, why, your Mom nicknamed you Bee-Bop?”
“Oh! No,” says Bee-Bop “I know why I’m called Bee-Bop.”
“It’s because of the way I walk.” He replied “I walk with a slight dip with every other step. I keep my head held high, as though I own the world, says Mom,” Bee-Bop replied laughingly
The Fairies suddenly surrounded Bee-Bop saying
“From the moment you took your first steps, we were whispering the name, Nee-Bose, in your mother’s ear.”
“Your Mother thought we were saying Bee- Bop, which to her described the little dip in your step.” “Every time anyone called you Bee-Bop you are hearing Nee-Bose deep in your heart. You were slowly remembering your E.T.-Ness. This is why you were almost sure there was a spaceship near by.”
“This is the real reason they call me Bee-Bop, instead of Barry?”
“Yes” said the fairies in one voice
“Nee-Bose is your E.T. name”
“You mean I’m an E.T.?”
“Not quite” says Nebbia. “You are what we call a seedling. You have E.T. DNA”
“I do?” Asks Bee-Bop in amazement. “How can that be possible unless Mom, or Dad is E.T.?” asks Bee-Bop “Maybe, both of my parents are E.T.’s. This would be something we’d definitely have to keep a secret,” laughs Bee-Bop
“This is true,” says Nebbia with a smile “I think it would be wise.”
“Only one of your parents is an E.T.” says Nebbia
“Well, I know it can’t be Dad because he doesn’t believe in E. T .s I can’t believe Mom is an E.T.” Bee-Bop says thinking out loud. “Does my Mom know that she’s an E.T.?” Bee-Bop asks Nebbia.
Before Nebbia could answer, the command “Beam Her Up” is heard over the loud speaker. Bee-Bop was wondering who was being beamed up.
“The life form has boarded on the other side of the ship.” Says Nebbia once again reading Bee-Bops’ mind.
Meanwhile,
Candy goes to the kitchen looking for Bee-Bop. She didn’t find Bee-Bop, but she did find the broom closet door open. This was a “no” “no” in their house.
Before Mom could ask who left the closet door open, Candy walks across the room to close the door. She notices a beautiful blue light going around, and around inside the closet.
She steps inside the closet to take a closer look.
“Maybe, I’ll be able to see where the blue light is coming from,” Candy thinks to herself
Then to her surprise, she hears a voice say “Beam Her Up.”
Candy thought at first, that Bee-Bop must have put a tape recorder in the closet, as a joke.
“Bee-Bop really loved to laugh, and make others laugh, too.”
She soon realizes, that the room she was in at, that moment, was not, “in the kitchen,”
“I wonder where is the one, that “Beamed Me Up?” thought Candy
Candy sees rainbow colored lights twinkling on, and off, down the hall. She begins to move in the direction of the lights.
On her way toward the colored lights, she sees a bubble floating beside her.
She has the urge to look inside the bubble, to see what made it float.
To Candy’s surprise there was a face of an Indian inside of it, looking straight at her with a smile.
He had reddish skin, dark eyes, black long hair, full lips, and a
keen nose.
Candy asks the face in the bubble “Who are you?”
“Ney-Boo dancer, is my name, and Nixeco, is my tribe,” he answered “I’m your guide while you are on this ship.”
“Ship? What ship?” Candy asks
“Are you not aware, that you are on a Spaceship?” asks Ney-Boo Dancer
“Well, now that you mention it, I am, sort of,” says Candy wondering what would happen next
“When I heard the words, “Beam Me Up,” I thought my brother Bee-Bop had placed a tape recording in the closet.”
“My next guess was, that I was about to see some real live E. T. s,” says Candy with much excitement
“Nee-Boo Dancer,”
“Where is the rest of your body?” ask Candy
“Well, I can take on any form I want,” says the man in the bubble.”
“We decided, that a face in a bubble would be fun, and non-threatening to you.”
“We? Who?” Candy asks Ney-Boo Dancer “Who are you talking about? Are there many E.T.S on board this Spaceship?”
“Yes, we are here by the thousands. We can come, and go, as we choose, with one thought.” Replies Ney-Boo Dancer
Before Candy could ask any more questions, Ney-Boo Dancer said “You must be hungry and thirsty. Can I offer you some refreshments?” Asks Ney-boo Dancer
The bubble started moving down the hall. Candy followed it, until it stopped at a door that opens, as if, it was waiting for them.
In the middle of the room was a table full of earth foods, and a frosted pitcher filled with lemonade.”
“I wonder, how did they know what I like to eat, and drink?” Candy thought to herself.
“We have a spy in your house.” Replies Ney-Boo Dancer
“Oh! I see you can read minds, too.”
“You also, will be able to read minds, Candy, when you believe you can.”
No, Candy didn’t believe in mind reading, so she changed the subject back to the Spy
“Spy?” asks Candy in a tone of disbelief.
“Isn’t that what you call someone, that is gathering information about you, and you don’t know it?” Asks Nebbia
“Yes, but I cannot imagine who the spy could be. The spy must be invisible.” Says Candy flippantly
“No, the spy isn’t invisible,” replies Ney-Boo Dancer with a tone of knowingness
“You will find out very soon who the spy is, in your house,” says Ney-Boo Dancer laughingly
Not really taking this conversation to heart.
Candy begins to eat until she was completely satisfied. She notices that the frosted glass of lemonade stayed full no matter how much of it she drank. This pleased her very much because, she loved lemonade.
When she finished eating she was taken to a room, filled with cats. These cats were in all shapes, sizes, and colors.
There was something different about these cats, though. They looked like cats, but they acted like people.
Candy wondered why Ney-Boo Dancer would bring her to a room, full of cats. She also noticed that a lot of the cats looked like Nokota, her family’s cat. She was surprised to hear them discussing one of their cat family members.
The cat they were talking about sounded like a cat
She knew, somehow
Candy thought to herself “No, she couldn’t be!”
“Yes, she is!” The cats said in one voice, falling to the floor laughing.
“Your Nokota is an E.T. cat.”
“She is E.T. just like all of us,” said the cat’s in one voice.”
“She’s is proving she is an E.T. to your neighbor across the street, at this very moment.”
The cats began to laugh again,
This time they were kicking their legs up, turning over, and over, on the floor laughing, and laughing.
They laughed so much, and so hard, that Candy started to laugh too, and so did Ney-Boo Dancer.
“I can’t believe it”
“Nokota is the spy in our house,” Says Candy
“Yes, she was assigned to your family, so we would know, what you like to eat, and drink,” says Ney-Boo Dancer.
“We also wanted to know what you feared and why.”
“We had to experience emotions through you, because we know longer express in this way. It was very important for us to know how open you were to E.T.’s
walking among you, before we Beamed You Up. As you can see Nokota was very thorough in her observations”
“Nokota has the ability to meet you in your dreams,” says Ney-Boo Dancer
“I see she does,” says Candy. “I have never told anybody about my desire to talk to the E. T .s, let alone, being on a spaceship. I have been dreaming about coming aboard a spaceship for years, now.” Says Candy
“Can you see what Nokota is doing now,” asks Candy
“Of course, we all can, we are one!” says the cats in one voice
“The N vibration for us keeps us in tune to oneness, sameness.”
“This is why all of our names start with a N.”
“Even our spaceship called “Nubonia,” is part of our oneness.”
“Well, what is Nokota doing now?” asks Candy again
“Nokota is planning her course of action, as we speak.” Says the Cats in one voice.
“She has decided to paint your house, so that your neighbor across the street has the opportunity to remember where she came from.”
“You mean, Mrs. Coleman is an E.T., too? That’s why she seems so strange,” says Candy
“Yes, she knows she’s different, but she can’t seem to get a handle on, why.”
“If we know Nokota, she has Mrs. Coleman wondering if she is sleep walking, or just needs a nap.”
And the cats began to once again laugh and laugh. Nakota has decided on her course of action
“I think I’ll paint the house while the Jamesion family are gone,” says Nokota
“I can do it with just a thought, but that would be too much for Mrs. Coleman, at one time.”
“I’ll paint the house a little at a time.” Laughs Nokota
“I’ll let her see the house is being painted, but she won’t be able to see, who, or what, is painting it.”
“Mrs. Coleman will look out of her front window, and see a newly painted house.”
“The house will be Turquoise, with black and white trim and new bay windows.”
Nokota goes outside to access the house. In the human world, the old paint, that was peeling had to be scraped off first, and then sanded down. In her world she could paint the whole house, trim it, and put in the bay windows, with a wave of her paw.
Nokota didn’t want to shock Mrs. Coleman into remembering she was, an E.T. She wanted her to want to remember who she was, and where she came from.
Mrs. Coleman’s time to remember
Mrs. Coleman is looking out of her front window when Nokota comes outside, stands up, on her hind legs, and waves her paw.
Presto, the peeling paint has been scraped off, and sanded down.
Mrs. Coleman can’t see what Nokota is doing, or how she has done it.
Nokota knows that Mrs. Coleman is watching her intensely and wondering what is going on.
“If I didn’t know better I would think, that Nokota is a human.” Says Mrs. Coleman thoughtfully.
“This cat is standing up on her hind legs waving her paw. Then she stands back, as though she’s looking at something.” Says Mrs. Coleman
Mrs. Coleman closes her eyes, hoping, she isn’t seeing, what she thinks, she’s seeing.
When Mrs. Coleman opens her eyes Nokota is laid out on the ground kicking her legs up, and holding her stomach. Nokota is laughing her heart out, but Mrs. Coleman can’t hear her. She only sees her arms and legs flapping around.
“Now, this is really strange, that cat looks like she’s laughing at something, as though she is human. I must be looking at to much science fiction,” says Mrs. Coleman, rubbing her eyes.
“Oh! I’ve got to go and get me an ice pack.”
When Mrs. Coleman returns to her front window, Nokota is gone.
Nokota, getting up before dawn has finished painting the house. The house is now turquoise and trimmed beautifully, in black and white, with new bay windows.
Mrs. Coleman will be so pleased; I won’t tell her about it until we are back, “in the kitchen” says Nokota feeling good about what she had done.
Mrs. Coleman wakes up, looks out of her window, and sees, that the house is freshly painted, and has new bay windows.
“That’s it,” says Mrs. Coleman “I’m going over to the Jameson’s house and find out, what’s going on with, that cat.”
“Mrs. Coleman walks up to the front door and knocks.
The door swings open from the inside, but there knows one behind the door.
She calls out to Mrs. Jameson, Dad, Candy, Bee-Bop, June, and even Nokota, the cat.
There’s know one to be found
“I wonder where Nokota is right now.”
“Mrs. Coleman began to wonder, why she didn’t see the Jameson’s leave the house.
Their family car was still in the yard.
“Maybe, they are in the basement playing some board games, or something.” Says Mrs. Coleman
While walking through the kitchen to get to the basement door, Mrs. Coleman notices that the broom closet door was open. She knows how Mrs. Jameson feels about any door being left open.
Mrs. Coleman goes over to the closet to close the door, and see’s a light going around, and around.
“Oh, I see, Mrs. Jameson has but a beautiful blue light in the closet. How thoughtful,” says Mrs. Coleman
“I wonder how she got it to go around, and around, like this. There is something familiar about these lights. I’ve seen lights like this before, thought Mrs. Coleman.”
In the next instance, she heard the words “Beam Her Up”
Mom, Dad, and their youngest daughter June, are in the kitchen, waiting for Candy, and Bee-Bop to show up for lunch.
“I wonder what’s holding them up,” says Mom as she looks around and see’s the broom closet door is open.
“The closet door seems to be open every morning, lately.” Says Momwith a puzzled look
“I get up earlier than everyone in the house. It must be a leprechaun, or something in our house,” says Mom laughingly
“June, will you close the closet door, please.”
“Okay, Mom”
June walks over to close the door, and sees a beautiful blue light. The blue light is going around, and around in a way, that June has never seen a light turn, before.
“Mom, Dad, when did you put this beautiful blue light in the closet?”
“I’ve been in and out of this closet several times today, and I didn’t see it.” Says Candy in wonderment
“What blue light?”Says Mom, Dad in one voice
Mom, Dad got up from their chairs, and joins June. All three of them are taking a closer look into the closet.
They suddenly hear the words, “Beam Them Up”
Before Mom, Dad, June could take the next breath, they found themselves in a gigantic room filled with big boards of lights, and gadgets.
They stood in silence for what seemed like forever.
The silence was broken by the words “Beam Her Up”
Nokota came strolling into the room, as though she was in a familiar place.
“Nokota how did you get here?” Asked Mom in disbelief while rubbing her fur.
To Moms surprise Nokota answered “I was beamed up, so that I can join you. I’m the one who has been leaving the closet door open.”
Mom, looking as though she was in a state of shock, speaks ever so softly “Are you telling me that we are on a Spaceship? I’ve been dreaming about this meeting, ever since they showed the blue lights on the news, last year. I’ve never told anybody, that I believed in E. T .s. I have always wondered how you suddenly showed up in our kitchen.” says Mom to Nokota
“I beamed down the morning you saw me, “in the kitchen.” Says Nokota ,the E.T. Cat. “I would beam myself up, every night, using the blue light in the closet, and I would come back every morning, before, the family got up.”
“I spoke to your mind, and I told you to name me Nokota, so I wouldn’t forget my oneness vibration to the life forms on this ship.”
“I have always suspected that you understood me when I talked to you Nokota,” says Mom “I also believed that you helped heal me when I was sick, last year. I didn’t tell anyone about this belief, except Mrs. Coleman our neighbor across the street. I knew she wouldn’t believe me, but she wouldn’t laugh at me, either,” Says Mom convinced of Mrs. Coleman’s friendship.
“Mrs. Coleman will be joining us soon. She was beamed up shortly behind me,” Says Nokota to every ones surprise
June finally getting over her shock about everything that has happened since being beamed up “Mrs. Coleman is an E.T. too, isn’t she Nokota?” Asks June
“Yes, she is”, replies Nokota “I helped her remember her E.T. Ness a couple of nights ago.” Nokota says with a big laugh
“A couple of night ago?” Says Mom “How can that be?”
“ I don’t remember going to sleep, or anything, says June.
“Yes, I know,” Says Nokota
“We will have a wonderful time talking about how time is relative, “in the kitchen”
“Mrs. Jameson you are physic, you knew there was something beyond this world different about Mrs. Coleman,” says Nokota
“Mrs. Coleman will be bringing Bee-Bop and Candy with her.”
“Bee-Bop and Candy are on the ship too?” asks Mom
“Nokota you have been very busy making sure the closet door was open, so we could see the blue lights.” Says Mom laughingly
Dad had not said a word since being beamed up
Suddenly Dad moves toward the biggest board in the gigantic room.
Dad to their surprise told the E.T. at the controls
“I’ll take it from here.” Says Dad
As soon as he sat down we heard over the loud speakers
“Welcome home” “Najee,” “Najee,” “Najee”
“Your Father,” says Nokota was High Priest, and Captain of the Nubonia, as you can see, he is still loved.”
Dad turns to Mom and says
“I have just awakened from a dream, a wonderful dream, but a dream nonetheless. I have a lot to tell you, all of you” Says Dad taking in the whole room.
“I am looking forward to hearing the greatest story ever told,” replied Mom ever so tenderly
June was feeling that this was the moment to tell the family about one of her dreams.
“Mom, Dad, Bee-Bop, I was told in one of my dreams, years ago, that Mom was married to an E.T.”
“They told me, that Dad loves Mom very much, and he was very thankful, that together they had children, that were of the heavens, and of the earth at the same time.” says Candy continuing
“Mom was chosen according to my dream, because of her, “psychic gifts, and her love for Dad.”
“She also was chosen because of the love she freely shares with all of God’s children.”
“Bee-Bop, I didn’t believe one word of it.”
“I secretly, thought it would be awesome, if it were true!” June says with excitement
“Now, I know it was all true, and more.” Says June giving Mom a big hug
“You mean, Dad is the E.T.?”
“WOW!” says Bee-Bop
As he enters the room with Candy, Mrs. Coleman, Nebbia and Ney-Boo Dancer who were floating magically along side of
them in their bubbles, Dad turns from the controls and stands up
The fairies bowed, the angels bowed, the little people, and Mrs. Coleman bowed, Nebbia, and Ney-Boo Dancer to their surprise Was no longer in their bubbles, bowed.
Nakota and the cats bowed.
Mom, June, and Bee-Bop weren’t sure what they should do. So, one by one, they bowed.
Dad began to speak, telling his earthly family, that they would be
returning to earth, as if nothing has happened.
He said they would continue to live an earthly life.
This time they would all remember they were E. T .s and E.T. seedlings.
Dad said, he would explain to them where he came from, and why he was on earth.
He would also explain to them what it meant to be a, “seedling.”
“By the way,” Dad said to June
“Your E.T. name is Norya.”
“Your brother Bee-Bops’ E.T. name is Nee-Bose”
“Norya we are going to have a lot more to talk about in our Saturday morning, laughing session from now on, says Nee-Bose.”
“Yes, Nee-Bose, I think you’re right,” says Norya giggling
Nebbia turns to Mom, and says “From this moment on we will call you ‘Nequoia’. Nequoia, meaning mother of the skies.” Says Nebbia
“Thank you,” says Mom feeling very honored
June turned to Mrs. Coleman and asked her “What is your E.T. name, Mrs. Coleman?”
“It’s Ninai, my name is Ninai.” She began to laugh, and to cry at the same time
Dad once again takes the controls
“Let’s go for a ride before we are beamed down,”
“In the kitchen” says Captain Dad.
Into the heavens they went at the speed of light
The End
Life truly is an adventure if we let it be!
